Dear You,
You never realized how much value you had until it was stolen, and you were left feeling completely expendable.
Slowly, painfully, you are beginning to understand just how much you are worth.
With aching and tired hands, you dug up the pieces of your broken body. Sifted through the dirt in which someone threw them in, gathering them carefully, dusting them off to bring them back home safely.
You dirtied your nails and broke your back. The soil was made soft by the steady fall of your tears, making it easier somehow to see what needed to be seen. The very salt and water of you cleansed your soul and made the broken pieces shine with such wonder. Almost like new, but not quite, because somehow, they were now better. They now caught the sunlight in a way they never had before, and the colors danced in the most lovely of ways. They now knew what they could withstand, and that strength made them the most beautiful of all.
You picked the pieces up with intention, handling them with such care and tenderness for they were so very bruised. They hurt so very much to return to. They had been so easily tossed aside by the ones who should have helped you make them shine.
But, pick them up you did, and in that painful process, you finally began to look on those pieces with care. They had deserved so much better all along. It took you watching them being broken and tossed aside to finally realize it.
So, dear You. Strong, precious, beautiful, broken pieces of you. Welcome home.
